Documenting Quality End-of-Life Care and Assuring Compliance: A Comprehensive Staff and Volunteer Training Program
This training provides a critical-thinking framework as a basis for documenting the Hospice Interdisciplinary Care Process. The program includes resources tools to help clearly document the value of services, and can accommodate your specific documentation forms. For Suncoast Solutions™ users, the program specifically outlines how to apply the concepts using the software.
End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) Training
The ELNEC curriculum includes nine modules addressing critical aspects of end-of-life care:
- Nursing Care at the End of Life
- Pain Management
- Symptom Management
- Ethical/Legal Issues
- Cultural Consideration in End-of-Life Care
- Communication
- Grief, Loss, Bereavement
- Achieving Quality Care at the End of Life
- Preparation and Care for the Time of Death
ELNEC training offers two different training levels; the Train-the-Trainer Program for those with extensive end-of-life experience that wish to train others, and the Implementation Training for those who will find the content to be a challenging growth opportunity.
Missoula-VITAS© Quality of Life Index Implementation Training (MVQOLI)
This self-reported measurement tool, developed by Ira Byock, MD and VITAS© Healthcare Corporation, subjectively measures hospice patients' quality of life. The tool assesses five dimensions of a person's experience - symptoms, functional status, interpersonal

Caregiving Near Life's End: The National Train-the-Trainer Program (24 hour)
Based upon a national needs assessment of hospice family members and informal caregivers, this intensive training program helps caregivers find meaning, purpose and value in the end-of-life caregiving experience. Participants leave with the skills and training materials needed to implement an effective caregiver training program in their community. Winner of the 2003 National Council of Hospice & Palliative Professionals Award of Excellence for Public Education Program for Patients and Families, the 2003 Excellence in Research Award from The Center for Hospice, Palliative Care and End-of-Life Studies, and recognized for Innovation and Quality in Healthcare and Aging, 2005, American Society on Aging.
