The Hospice Institute of the Florida Suncoast
In 1994 The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast founded The Hospice Institute of the Florida Suncoast, an international practice-based resource center of excellence for end-of-life and palliative care education, consultation, research and innovation.
The mission of The Hospice Institute is to be a catalyst for change in the way people and organizations care for others at the end of life. Based on 30 years of experience providing care for our community, The Institute and The Hospice staff have developed a variety of education and training materials and other resources for hospice staff, volunteers and communities.
The Hospice Institute is a unique training and consultation organization utilizing the strengths of the organization's practice-based experts in providing end-of-life training, research and consultation to more than 2500 service providers from across the country. The Institute has coordinated thousands of student affiliations and consulted with hundreds of providers seeking to enhance their care systems.
The Institute provides services including:
- Community trainings and workshops
- Community resource centers/libraries at our service centers
- Information and support resources for caregivers
- Training for health and human service
- Consultations, educational programs and training products for service providers
- End-of-life research initiatives
